Liquid Underglaze
Claybright Liquid Underglaze Stains These are pottery powdered stains manufactured in an easy to use liquid format. It has a firing range from 1000C to 1300C though it should always be tested before assuming compatibility with your process.

Claybright is supplied as a thixotropic gel which becomes beautifully fluid when shaken or swirled with a brush, but returns to a gel state for a long term storage.Clay bright has excellent brushing qualities. It does not drip off the brush. It spreads well across raw clay and bisque surfaces and it is well bound to prevent dusting or smudging when handled.

Claybright may be thinned with a few drops of water or Propylene Glycol for enhanced flow in banding or wash applications.Thinned paint should be used immediately and not stored. Multiple coats of paint will increase the intensity of the colour. Application by sponging and spraying is also possible.

Claybright may be covered with a layer of clear glaze or left unglazed for decorative effects on no-food surfaces. The unglazed paint will develop a variety of surface characters depending on the type selected, the pigment type and the firing temperature. Surface effects will range from matte to satin to glassy.

Two different variations of the full Claybright range of colours are produced to suit a range of applications.

WHITE CAP/ENGOBE BASE.

1.Apply to raw clay prior to scraffito decoration and bisque to 900C.

2.Apply to bisqueware where a hardening firing of 900C will optimise glaze pickup when dipping into clear glaze.

3.Apply to raw clay or bisque where no glazing is required and where velvet and or semimatte surface effects are required.

REDCAP/GLAZE BASE.

1.Apply to bisqueware as underglaze before dipping and firing. Leave colour to dry before dipping. Most commercial studios select this product for the time and energy savings made.

2. Apply to raw clay or bisque. If left unglazed the result will vary from velvet to glossy depending on firing temperatures.
3D Colours
Claybright 3D Colours An underglaze product especially designed for slip trailing. It is a stiff mixture that beads up beautifully. In fact you can, with successive coats, build up really high raised lines or 3 D effects that will resist the tendency of usual underglaze blends to craze, peel or break away. Applying 3D Relief Decoration through the 'Ultimate slip trailer' will really excite all those creative.
Glaze Stains (Powders)
Stains are a blend of metal oxides and carbonates, refined and milled. They are refractory i.e. resistant to high temperatures and inert. Stains will not melt as they contain no flux.

Flux for stoneware can be any or a mix of clay body, ball clay or feldspar. For earthenware use clay body, glaze or lead bisilicate.

For brush decoration mix with a few drops of medium. i.e Rados or Sussett (refer studio tools).
