NOTE: Copper compounds must not be incorporated into any low lead solubility glaze if the resultant glaze is to be used on domestic ware in contact with foods. On non-contact surfaces and in leadless (stoneware) glazes there is no problem.

Description |
In glazes in oxidised firings, 2% produces a strong green, 5% a metallic black. Up to 10% may be used in slips or clay bodies, the colour varying from yellow brown and green.
