| Description - |
Clear Glaze (271D) 1050-1250+ÂșC
A very popular glossy transparent glaze for
Terracotta and White clays firing to the above temperatures. Also the standard glaze for bisqueware shapes.
The PbO content of this glaze is less than 1% and is present in fritted form. A safe domestic glaze if fired to recommended temperatures.
Preparation
1kg glaze powder to 1.5 lt water
Leave to soak for several hours
Sieve through 80-100 mesh sieve
Addition of 20mls of Rados/1lt of glaze helps suspension, and hardens unfired glaze.
This is an economical glaze and needs to be applied thinly. Will show milkyness or crazing if applied too thick. May be applied to stoneware, but crazing evident if clay not fired to maximum maturity. |
