Primo Clays - Production White PW10 Primo 1140 - 1280C Production White Stoneware

PW10 has become the most popular general purpose white body. It functions well in the 1140-1280C range and is popular with production potters like Tony Sly. Decopot uses this body in their bisque production and Chris Weaver has found it exceptionally user-friendly. Shinkage at 1200C - 12% Vitreous at 1200C

The Process

Selected raw materials are carefully weighed and blunged into a thin slip. This is passed through a 120 mesh vibrating screen and two rare-earth magnetic separators en route to a modern polypropylene filterpress.

Slip is dewatered in the filterpress to produce cakes of the required hardness in 1-tonne batches. The cakes are pugged through an efficient stainless stell de-airing pugmill. They are checked to ensure optimal hardness before being packed in 10Kg polythene bags.

Primo Clays - White Stoneware Primo Clays 1160 - 1300C White Stoneware

An economical and very white stoneware body. Excellent throwing even for very large pieces. A favourite of Barry Doyle, Peter Smith and others. Duncan Shearer had good fired results from his wood firings and noted that it appeared immune to carbon trapping.
